Tennis Parc Residencial Catalunya in Vilacolum is directed by Susanne Schulz Heckmann and Stefan Heckmann. Susi and Stefan were witnesses to how the facilities that had once been the Vilacolum tennis courts were left to fall into decline over the course of many years. Moreover, their children had become enthusiasts of the sport and were doing well in a number of tournaments, and so it was a real shame to see the potential of the old facilities going unused... And so finally in 2007 they thought of breathing new life into them. They wasted no time: they built a modern club house and two new clay courts, they refurbished the |
three pre-existing artificial-grass courts, and they installed floodlights all around the complex. And to cater for the tennis school, they hired the services of a professional trainer: Alejandro Ferrero, originally from Castilla y León in northern Spain, and with a number of tennis trophies to his credit after his career in tennis. At his peak, Ferrero numbered among the top 8 Spanish players, and was the champion of his home region, Castilla y León. As for his work as a coach, it is backed by 12 years' experience and his qualifications as coach from the National Mastery School of the Spanish Tennis Federation. |
More recently he has been working as a coach in Empuriabrava, and in 2008 he will direct the tennis training sessions for the pupils at our school.
